Our Problem-Solving Experience. Atypical subsurface conditions require atypical field and laboratory testing solutions. At RKCI, we have spent four decades finding better methods to look underground and to define the strength and classification characteristics of the underlying materials. These techniques include the use of CPT drilling techniques and pressuremeter testing equipment, both of which more accurately predict the in-situ strength of soils and rock. Better evaluation of the strength of foundation bearing materials often results in reduced construction cost for our Clients.
Our Testing Technology. Additionally, RKCI has utilized multiple geophysical testing techniques to better identify stratification of soil/rock layers and to identify anomalies beneath project sites. We have utilized multiple, in-house geophysical testing techniques to better characterize subsurface soil/rock profiles, including but not limited to Conductivity Testing, Resistivity Testing, Refraction Microtremor (ReMi©) and Ground Penetrating Radar. Whereas traditional geotechnical engineering studies typically involves collected samples in widely spaced borings, each of these methods provides for the collection of more contiguous data, helping to reduce surprises encountered during construction.
