No question about it, with traffic and congestion
growing at staggering rates, the need to provide transportation
alternatives to citizens has never been greater. As a result, state
and local governments are looking to alternative
project delivery methods to meet their growing transportation needs.
Recognizing these challenges, Raba-Kistner Infrastructure has
developed a comprehensive menu of solutions in the development,
engineering, financing and management of facilities in this dynamic
market. Raba-Kistner builds partnerships with clients to ensure
projects are not only planned, designed and constructed, but also
operated and maintained efficiently. Working with our
clients as extensions of their staff, our services are tailored
to provide the right assistance to help each client achieve their
mobility goals.
Raba-Kistner combines traditional engineering services with new
approaches to project delivery, the latest technology,
innovative asset management and customer service programs. By offering
comprehensive services we provide detailed analysis of each element
as well as assure an effective integration of the entire solution.
Raba-Kistner brings to the infrastructure industry, professionals
who include some of the state's leading construction management
advisors and consultants, project delivery specialists and
program managers. Our depth of expertise extends to
planners, designers, engineers, procurement and construction managers.
Raba-Kistner alternative project delivery has worked on high-profile
and ground breaking projects and infrastructure around the south-central
United States. Many of our employees are former members of state
departments of transportation, bringing an understanding of how
best to efficiently work with state highway departments. Major
highway and bridge experience includes projects for departments
of transportation across the south-central United States.
As a full-service firm, Raba-Kistner has experience
in every phase of highway and bridge projects from corridor studies
to construction management. Addressing complex physical, environmental,
and budget constraints is our specialty. Public participation programs
are a key strength. With locations throughout the Southwest, Raba-Kistner
provides the manpower, resources and technology needed to meet
the highway, interchange, and bridge challenges of the twenty-first
century.
Raba-Kistner's role in transportation begins
at the beginning. Our multi-disciplined staff of engineers, biologists, archeologists
and environmental engineers has experience with the coordination
of major and minor transportation projects. Our broad range of experience in linear projects,
ranging from cross country distribution infrastructure, rail to
road- both tolled and non-tolled, lends value to any project.
INITIAL PLANS AND SEQUENCES
CHANGE OVER THE LIFE OF A PROJECT. Right of way acquisition,
utilities, equipment availability, materials delivery schedules
and other factors all impact the construction plans and schedules.
Raba-kistner has the experience and field staff with critical
skill sets to face these challenges. Our experience has covered
the field of modifying traffic control plans to meet changing
construction sequences to designing temporary and permanent traffic
control signalization. Beyond design, our experienced field staff
provides another level of quality assurance to ensure that what
is designed gets installed and fits conditions in the field.
As one of the first Texas based engineering firms
involved in Design-Build, we understand the unique characteristics
that accompany this alternative project delivery model. Having
experience in developing the first Design and Construction Quality
Assurance Programs utilized in the State, we have first-hand knowledge
of the importance of time and schedule on design-build projects.
We also understand the need to provide experienced personnel who
have prior design build project experience.
Raba-Kistner is fortunate to have on staff several
individuals who have Department of Transportation (DOT) experience
that reaches back to the beginning of ITS in transportation. After
having seen what does and does not work, our staff can provide
that relevant past experience and knowledge to make things go right
the first time.
After accumulating almost four decades of construction
materials engineering and testing experience in the private sector,
Raba-Kistner has become a recognized leader in Construction Engineering Inspection
(CEI) in the alternative project delivery market for public sector
projects as well. Beginning as the first private sector business
outside of TxDOT to perform CEI on a $1.3 billion TxDOT facility, Raba-Kistner
has built a staff of over 80 individuals with engineering and construction
inspection experience overseeing utility relocation, pre-construction
environmental services, erosion control, hazardous materials coordination,
environmental permitting and coordination, and all aspects of major
highway construction such as mass earthwork, paving(asphalt and
concrete), drainage systems and bridge construction. Providing
construction review of design drawings in the early stages
allows Raba-Kistner to facilitate construction means and methods
and their impact upon construction to the benefit of the contractor
and Owner.
Supported by individuals with over 30 years of
experience in design and construction, Raba-Kistner is a leader
in providing unique approaches to managing a construction project.
Using award winning web-enabled document control and data reporting/analysis
systems developed internally and customized to meet the project
needs, Raba-Kistner can provide virtual real-time construction
management information to the Owner, Contractor and design team.
Using our insight on several alternative project
delivery experiences allows us to provide a certain insight to
projects that have an accelerated schedule. Our reputation for
being able to provide experienced personnel at a fast pace sets
the tone of our service- we can do it.
Raba-Kistner experience is drawn from a wide
base of projects we have worked on over the past four decades.
Combined with the senior level managers who work as project principals
we have the capacity to serve as Program Manager for our clients.
Starting at project development (including finding sources of funding),
preliminary design thru final design to construction and then completion,
Raba-Kistner's experience with various alternative project delivery
methods ensures that the clients' risk management criteria are
met.
Using knowledge accumulated through our 40+ years of experience, Raba-Kistner's internal QC/QA programs and attention to detail, we understand claims management. Our personnel have experience starting with bid review, construction contract claims and disputes, interpretation of construction specifications, I.S.T.E.A. oversight to development of construction policies and procedures.
Raba-Kistner has a proven program for maintaining project and data
control. Originally created for a design-build project, which operated
at $1 million of construction a day for a 15 month period, it has
proven just as valuable for projects much smaller. Integrated with
our nationally recognized ELVIS software, we have the capability
to meet any project's needs.
