Raba-Kistner was retained to provide engineering and environmental
consulting for the relocation of 40 miles of railway, abandonment
of the present rail system and moving of the Union Pacific rail switching
yard out of Harlingen, Texas. The relocation study includes
the bypassing of the cities of Harlingen, San Benito, and the town
of Olmito. The North Cameron County project will tie into
a new switching yard south of Olmito and the newly proposed rail
lines previously studied and permitted through work performed by
Raba-Kistner in conjunction with Cameron County.
