Raba-Kistner was retained by Webb County Rail District to provide engineering
and environmental consulting services for a new rail bridge and relocation
of rail lines in Laredo, Texas. For years, the City of Laredo has wanted
to relocate rail lines from downtown, therefore reducing traffic congestion,
minimize air quality concerns, and addressing safety issues.
A plan has been developed to construct a new rail bridge adjacent
to the Camino Columbia Bridge with new tracks following the Camino
Toll Road, tying into Interstate 35 heading north to San Antonio and
east to Corpus Christi. Our first assignment will be to obtain the Presidential
Permit for the bridge while producing the Environmental Assessment
for the proposed rail lines. The first phase of our work scope will last
approximately one year, with the design phase to follow immediate thereafter.
