Port Freeport’s 2016 Golf Tournament was a great success and Texas Port Ministry will benefit from the generosity of sponsorships, registration fees and the raffle. A check for over $34,200.00 was presented to Texas Port Ministry Director Bobby Fuller at the Commission’s meeting. “The atmosphere at the event was exciting, we had over one hundred thirty-five golfers, most from the Freeport and Houston maritime transportation industry,” said Port Freeport Executive Director/CEO Phyllis Saathoff.
“It is an honor to host the annual tournament knowing all the proceeds benefit individuals that come into contact with our Port community on a daily basis. I am proud of the volunteers, sponsors and staff for making this event a huge success year after year,” said Port Commission Chairman Ravi Singhania.
Texas Port Ministry of Freeport has provided spiritual, social and physical care to the Freeport Harbor Community since 1974. Each year, services are provided to over 10,000 international seafarers from over 50 countries; over 150,000 truck drivers from across North America; and numerous local port workers through the efforts of over 40 volunteers. Texas Port Ministry is a 501©3 funded solely from contributions and donations.
The Port attributed the success to the dedication of staff, volunteers and generosity of the sponsors.
