SAN ANTONIO – Engineering consulting firm Raba Kistner, Inc., has been acquired by Construction Sciences, Pty, Ltd. (https://constructionsciences.net/), an Australian engineering firm based in Brisbane, Australia. The announcement was made jointly today by Matt Courtney (CEO of Construction Sciences) and Dr. Gary W. Raba, Chairman and CEO of Raba Kistner. Purchase price was not disclosed.

Raba Kistner, founded in San Antonio in 1968, is an Engineering News-Record “Top 500 Firm,” operating in ten different markets in Texas, Utah, Nebraska, Arizona, New York, California and Mexico with some 500+ employees. The firm provides project management and oversight services; forensics engineering; construction materials engineering, testing and observation; geotechnical engineering, testing and pavement consulting; environmental engineering and consulting; and infrastructure oversight and quality management.

Construction Sciences provides Construction Material and Geomechanical testing, Geotechnical and Environmental Consulting, and Subsurface Utility Engineering. They are major infrastructure project specialists, working predominantly in the transportation and resources sectors.

“Raba Kistner’s strong reputation and well aligned service lines attracted us to the business. We were further convinced upon meeting the people, who display similar ambitions and values to ours. Raba Kistner’s history of leveraging strong client relationships to grow, also aligns with the way Construction Sciences has been built.” Matt Courtney CEO Construction Sciences

“Construction Sciences came to us because they see Raba Kistner as a launching pad for them in the United States,” Raba Kistner Chairman and CEO Gary Raba said. “They are a much larger firm, publicly traded in Australia, and looking to enter the US market in a significant way. They were attracted to Raba Kistner because of our team, the way we do business and our success. This transaction will bring great growth opportunity for our firm and our people and will give us the financial backing to broaden our national platform and competitive capabilities -- and that’s good for Raba Kistner and Construction Sciences.”

“The Raba Kistner name will remain,” Raba said. “While our geographic scope will increase, our direction won’t change. The company was founded by my father and mother, Carl and Bunny Raba, 50 years ago. I have served as one of its executive leaders since 1999. The continuity of our company, our culture, our reputation and our people is assured, and that’s what makes so much sense to us about this merger.”

Gary Raba will continue to serve as President of Raba Kistner.
